Some kind of appeal to a general comradry?

Its really a farce to call this a journal, i know, what with me writing in it rarely bordering on never.
but, eh, regardless.
Most of the pieces are in place now, and I can see where things are going more easily. I've got all my school texts, numerous and expensive as they may be, and I've switched to part-time work at Loeb. Which apparently should cover my expenses, though i do still worry, as the cost of simply being alive is also pretty high. At least now I can focus better, what, free from the seemingly endless stream of problems involved in getting here.
On another note, I recently spoke with an Almonte friend who joined DA in April (im rather out of touch with things outside of my immediate bubble of attention). In any case, please visit her gallery, she has some nice work posted.

I am writing this in response to a journal, one from nightly-terrors.
I would do the icon and that but i just cant be bothered right now. You know how to go and look anyways, so I decided my laziness is more essential to preserve than yours XD
its here because I had stuff to say but I didnt want to clutter their journal or offend them on their territory. I have so much opinion on things that I dont always know what to do with it.

Yes celebrities are human, but that does not mean they are like us. First, to put everything in context, I have to recognize that some celebrities are just rich people whose existence a lot of people are aware of, and some are actually liked. The latter can be further broken down into those who are liked for their artistic talents, and those who really do nothing for the public except exist, and maybe make a big deal of themselves.

Social influences make us who we are more than genetics do. Everyone you ever interact with in your life leaves a mark on you. An apt if somewhat depressing analogy for this is a brick wall that is progressively covered in graffiti. Yes, people are this maleable, especially when they are young. I will come back to this. This is the reason some say that free will does not exist. Everything that you do or think is based on what social influences have made you. Your 'free will' might be said to amount to the mere fact that your social influences have been at least somewhat different from anyone else.

Celebrities live in constant exposure to a social reaction entirely different from the average person. For every single one of them it changes who they are. We give them this social reaction. We MAKE the monsters many of them have become. It wouldnt be fair if I left this out. Really, we give them too much attention, we harass them, and so many other things we do help to screw them up. Some of them respond differently to this than others, and those who show resilience deserve credit for it. And some of them, the poor fellows, actually grow up surrounded by this madness. Can you imagine what this does to them? Monsters, as I say, that we created. Some of them love it, some hate it. Some lust for more, others try to escape it. It makes some of them into total jerks, and I dont think it is an exageration to say that a large majority become self-centered, or become more so than they already were.

Why did we encourage this? Celebrities are like a focal point for so many things. Some people look up to, some people look down on, and people do both to make themselves feel better. 'thats what i wanna be like' or 'omg what a depraved festering sore on the collective face of humanity, i am so much better than that' or 'lawl, its great to have so many clowns around' people get something out of loving them hating them, or just from the lulz. Some represent ideals, others represent mistakes or dangers. And it seems people need to populate their fantasies. Or someone to throw rotten produce at. Whatever.

As for supporting them when they find a significant other, that's all fine, but when many of them break up even after arranging and going through a marriage, within a short period of time, because they are too awesome themselves to ever find anyone good enough to be with them, you might ask why you supported them. For those less delusional and conflicted, your support might be worth it.

As for ridiculing them, some of them are beyond saving from socially induced insanity that it really doesnt matter anymore. Others should be left the hell alone except if they are doing something stupid or otherwise deserving of a bit of ridicule.

I'm sure I left a lot out of this but I suddenly got lazy.
By all means, post your own opinions here if you so desire, argue with me, whatever. And yes, I know Im a cynic, and opinionated, and so many other things, and if you know too, thats fine. I tried to be relatively objective while writing this, but it isnt exactly, of course.

The school is charging us for damages AGAIN - and for more this time.
They've got money to put whiteboards on everyones door, but they won't pay to maintain the building;
that's what we're for.
Yes, we signed everything but our souls over to housing services and they can do whatever they want.
The school is just another organisation looking to line its pockets; corporations care about themselves, not their clients. anything that threatens profit is the enemy. If they could run a school without students, I do not doubt that they would. We are merely the meatbags at the bottom that turn the millstone.
If you think that's crazy, consider this.
The real problem is that they can't pin it on anyone; they dont know who causes the damages.
they could install video cameras, but they dont want to pay for that either; even the measures needed to prevent this are beyond their responsibility, and as long as they can charge us all for it, they will, and theres no problem.
and if they did install cameras, we would be paying for that too;
yet by the time they were installed and had any effect, we wouldnt be living here.
you cant expect the damages to stop;
respectable citizens have always had to carry the extra burden of the depraved fools that fester on the underbelly of civilization.
now you might say that we could identify those responsible in order to make sure they and only they pay for it; nope, that's no good either, because we can't actually prove it.
they would either have to be caught on video, (i return to the reason we need cameras), or they would have to turn themselves in, and even they are not that stupid.
and if we call protection, they will eventually come...eventually.
in fact i dont even know why they held a meeting this time, they only said the same stuff, and they are only degrading our respect for the organization here.
i really think its a shame that some students may not be able to pay their fees, and miss out on their education just because the university has left them out in the sun to rot.

i really feel that living in res with the opposite sex is tiresome.
the amount of differing values i encounter...
or perhaps a more general label is more appropriate. living in res with strangers is troublesome
a recent, frustrating situation...
people have been using my dishes and NEVER washing them.
i left them there, without cleaning them because i have a spine to support me
but of course, when people see that the kitchen is dirty, guess what happens
well look, arent those alex's dishes? lets dump them into this cheese pig ears box,
and leave it on the floor seeing as he hasnt washed them.
now, removing dishes from the kitchen is a "rule" that was created without consensus, or even notification before it was drafted, passed, and posted on the cubboard

welll that was just too much;
maybe they were devious and hoped that i would take the blame, like i did, or maybe they were to drunk to understand what they were doing, or that the dishes werent theirs.
being a crazy bastard like i am, all my dishes save the cutlery,
are in my room now, so that only i can use them.
yes, this is my idea of a solution; why bother trying to find the culprit and trach them sense, when I can stop the problem at its source.

also a source of great annoyance:
one of my roomates knocks on my door at around 1:00 in the morning; waking me from my much needed slumber.
"Are you busy?" he says.
not being capable of rational thought at this point, my brains still muddled from sleep,
i reply, "Yes, I'm very busy."
so he says something like, "Ok, well come out when you're not, we need to talk."
so I say "Ok."
Of course, I didnt come out, and returned to what i was "busy" with, which was sleeping.
Of course, if i was capable of thinking, i would have realised i should have thrown my psych textbook at the door and yelled at him for having no common sense. RAWR!
but i didnt.
and like i had said, I came out in the morning when I wasn't busy anymore.
that's when i found the aforementioned box.

i have some earplugs with me, and trust me they work very well, but i fear that if i wear them all the time i may miss a fire alarm and burn to death.

but when things get bad, there is hope!
if you are in a res with the opposite sex, you have probably been provided with separate rooms, complete with doors, and hopefully, locks.
